Music | Books | Movies

We’re on tour right now, and we sometimes have these question and answer sessions before the shows with people. One question that consistently comes up is what I’m listening to/watching/reading… So for those of you who care about such things, here are some things I’ve been enjoying lately:

Music:

Punch Brothers–Who’s Feeling Young
The Brilliance–Lent
Rachmaninoff–piano concerto No 2
Gorecki–Symphony of Sorrowful Songs
Eric Whitacre- When David Heard

Books:

The War of Art– Steve Pressfield
God-the World’s Future– Ted Peters
The Orthodox Heretic— Peter Rollins
Old School–Tobias Wolf

Movies:

Tree of Life
The Hunger Games (books were better, but I still enjoyed it)
Another Earth
Chronicle

I would also like to mention our friends over at Blue Like Jazz whose new movie comes out today! I’m not normally a fan of “Christian” movies, but Blue Like Jazz does a good job avoiding a lot of those sorts of trappings. It is pretty entertaining, and It’s worth checking out. You can get tickets at www.bluelikejazztickets.com

Ok, well I guess that could occupy you for a few hours. You guys have any recommendations for me? Especially in the music scene… I could use some new music.
